About USAID
USAID's Partners for Financial Stability Program (PFS) is a regional program led by the Office of Economic Growth in the Europe and Eurasia (E&E) Bureau. The project builds upon USAID's prior work in the financial sector while addressing some of the key challenges posed by the global financial crisis in the partner countries in Southeast Europe and Eurasia.
PFS is Funded by USAID
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 100 countries to provide a better future for all. USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the U.S. Secretary of State. Its work supports long-term and equitable economic growth and advances U.S. foreign policy objectives by supporting: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health and democracy; conflict prevention; and humanitarian assistance.

It works in close partnership with American business, indigenous organizations, international agencies, other governments, other U.S. government agencies, private voluntary organizations and universities. The East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to building just, prosperous and democratic societies. With over two decades of experience, EWMI promotes the rule of law, civil society and free market systems globally through targeted, locally relevant initiatives that foster partnerships. EWMI’s experience includes leading USAID’s first PFS program, launched in 1999.
This ten-year program successfully promoted the regional and global integration of financial systems in Central and Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, and countries of the former Soviet Union through the sharing of information and experience among public and private sector financial institutions.
